Welcome to DANKX Underwear & Apparel Co. Where premium quality meets unparalleled comfort and style. Founded in 2022, DANKX was born out of a desire to revolutionize the underwear & apparel industry. THE BIRTH OF DANKX
It all started with a kid who grew up living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Hockey is the heart and soul of Canada and Dan Kohanchuk was no stranger to wearing a jockstrap as it was an essential piece of equipment that was needed as he spent his entire youth and adult years playing the sport.
The sad reality for every hockey player is that for a sport you dedicate your whole life to, the memorable days of lacing up the skates and setting foot on the ice everyday eventually comes to an end and retirement sets in.
Post-retirement from hockey, Dan quickly entered the world of entrepreneurship as a way to fulfill his passion for creativity, perfection and innovation.
After several years of achieving great success with the first company in which he started, he became more inspired to diversify his passion for entrepreneurship. Constantly envisioning new ideas for things that he not only needed for himself but also for people all around the globe would need or want for themselves as well. Even though Dan is retired from playing hockey, he still found it essential to live an active lifestyle by dedicating alot of his time in the gym to stay fit and healthy. He didn’t want to end up completely losing his athletic build from playing hockey all these years. Hockey players, retired or not, still want to look good when they go out on the town wearing a pair of skinny jeans with their oversized hockey butts and big thighs expanding the fabric of their jeans to the fullest potential.
Everyone can relate to the annoying underwear ride up and the feeling of just being uncomfortable when you’re just trying to look good in a pair of skinny jeans or pump out a few reps of squats in the gym without having to reach into your pants to pull down the annoying ride up from your underwear.
Reminiscing of his old hockey days, Dan used to wear some pretty skimpy jockstrap style underwear that would often get talked about in the locker room and by popular demand they would often make special appearances at the team parties! The unforgettable moments of Dan casually playing beer pong and hanging around the DJ booth while wearing his jockstrap underwear always got the boys laughing and the girls in a state of shock. The concept of wearing a jockstrap ON THE ICE & OFF THE ICE is something that came very natural to him!
The Underwear market is heavily saturated with companies focusing mostly on boxer briefs for men and thongs for women. In order to stand out from the crowd, sometimes you got to do things a little different. Dan realized the search for quality Jockstrap underwear for men was very limited, majority of it was not up to his standards and the search for Jillstrap underwear for women was literally non-existent. He was set out to change that.
From this point, Dan contacted the Top-Rated Apparel manufacturers to create some jockstraps and Jillstraps that were specifically designed to his specifications. Creative color combinations, wide / stylish waistbands, durable / flexible materials and most important of all… functional, everyday underwear for home, work, gym and play.
The next step was to think of a Brand Name that would set him apart from all other companies on the market. Something SEXY! From his own perspective this was the most important part to take into consideration.
DAN-K is short for Dan Kohanchuk (DESIGNER) and the letter “X” symbolizes EXPLICIT, EXQUISITE and EXTRAORDINARY, which perfectly describes ALL of the DANKX apparel.
Let’s face it, anything with an X in it sounds SEXY and that’s exactly what we’re striving for here.
